GAUGE:
15 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS) with size 8 (5 mm) needles and A. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Work in St st (k on RS, p on WS) until piece measures 4 1/2 (6) in. (11.5 (15) cm) from beg, end with a WS row.

Fun pattern! I made it with a rolled brim with white fun fur mixed in for 2 preschool and one infant girls. The nose was too big for the infant hat so, following my husbands suggestion, I sewed two noses together then sewed it just above the rolled brim so it poked out. The hats turned out great and are the girls favorite hats.
