GAUGE:
3 sts = 1 in. (2.5 cm) in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION:
Seed stitch (worked in the rnd) Rnd 1: *K1, p1, rep from * around.
Rnd 2: K the purl sts and p the knit sts.
Rep Rnd 2 for Seed st worked in the rnd.
K1, p1 Rib (worked in the rnd) Rnd 1: *K1, p1, rep from * around.

HAT With circular needle and A, cast on 50 sts. Join, being careful not to twist sts. Place marker for beg of rnd.
Work in K1, p1 Rib for 1 1/2 in. (3.8 cm).
Change to B, and k 1 rnd, p 1 rnd.
Change to C, and k 1 rnd.
With C, work in Seed st until piece measures about 5 1/2 in. (14 cm) from beg.
Eyelet Rnd: *K5, yo, k2tog; rep from * around to last 8 sts, end k6, yo, k2tog.
Change to B.
Next Rnd: Knit.
Next Rnd: Purl.
Rep last 2 rnds 8 more times. Bind off.
FINISHING Cord With A and 2 double-pointed needles, cast on 4 sts. K1 row. *Do not turn work. Slide sts to other end of needle and k across. Rep from * until cord is about 20 in. (51 cm) long. Bind off.
Thread Cord through Eyelet Rnd of Hat.
Weave in ends.

I made 2 of these in the yarn suggested and they turned out so cute! They were a fast project and really turned out better than I thought! I will make these again in the future I'm sure!
