All-Season Baby Throw Reviewed by Alissa on 2012-01-17 *****
I enjoyed making this blanket for my newborn nephew. It's a great gender-neutral pattern, and the suggested colors are sophisticated rather than "babyish." As a matter of fact, my 13-year-old son asked me to make him one of these throws, but "with a lot more stripes." That will be my next project!

I love the eyelets in this pattern--they add visual interest and texture without making the blanket look fussy or overly feminine. I wanted to make the blanket quickly so it would be ready for the baby when he came home, so instead of making seven separate strips (thus necessitating checking my gauge for each color), I crocheted it as one continuous piece. Also, instead of using the lavender color, I substituted Cactus to give the blanket a more masculine look. Cactus looks fantastic with the other colors the pattern recommends.

This was my first time using Cotton-ease, and I really liked working with this yarn. It has the feel of cotton with the workability of acrylic. I'm glad I picked this pattern as opposed to the other pattern which looks almost identical to this throw but calls for Vanna's Choice.
