Warm Up America Blanket

Lion Brand® Vanna's Choice®

GAUGE:

1 Square = 7 x 9 in. (18 x 23 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

Seed Stitch (over an odd number of sts)
Row 1: K1, *p1, k1; rep from * across.
Rep Row 1 for Seed st.

Moss Stitch (over an even number of sts)
Rows 1 and 2: *K1, p1; rep from * across.
Rows 3 and 4: *P1, k1; rep from * across.
Rep Rows 1-4 for Moss st.



AFGHAN

SQUARE A (make 17)
With A, cast on 29 sts. Work in Garter st (k every row) until piece measures about 9 in. (23 cm) from beg. Bind off.

SQUARE B (make 16)
With B, cast on 29 sts. Work in Seed st until piece measures about 9 in. (23 cm) from beg. Bind off.

SQUARE C (make 16)
With C, cast on 34 sts. Work in Moss st until piece measures about 9 in. (23 cm) from beg. Bind off.

FINISHING
Following Assembly Diagram, sew Squares into 7 strips of 7 Squares each. Sew Strips together. Weave in ends.

This was my first blanket that I made as a wedding gift for my brother. It was really easy. I had issues with the moss stich because I would forget if I just did a row of knit or purl, you can really tell when you made a mistake so it wasn't to bad to go back and redo a line or two if you noticed.

I used different colours. White, teal and green and it turned out great!
