Lion Brand® Cotton-Ease®
16 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter st (k every row). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
Circular needle is used to accommodate large number of stitches. Knit Blanket back and forth in rows as if knitting with straight needles.
BLANKET Cast on 5 sts.
Row 1: Knit.
Row 2: K3, yo, k2.
Row 3: K3, yo, k3.
Row 4: K3, yo, k to end of row.
Rep last row until you have 160 sts on needle.
Next (decrease) row: K2, k2tog, yo, k2tog, k to end of row.
Rep last row until 5 sts remain. Bind off.
FINISHING Weave in ends.

I can't believe how long it took me to try out this pattern. I've seen sooo many dish/washcloth patterns similar to this and never was interested, but I needed a little car seat blanket and had 4 balls of cotton-ease, so I gave it a shot. I can see why this is such a popular pattern! It's a breeze to make and only took me about a week of nighttime knitting. Cotton-Ease is one of my favorite yarns, so I know it washes well and is easy to work with. This is my new go-to baby blanket for any surprise baby showers!
