6 sts + 10 rows = 5 in. (12.5 cm) in St st (k every rnd) with 3 strands held together. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES:
Wind yarn into 3 balls before beginning. Work holding 3 strands of yarn together throughout.
HAT With 3 strands of yarn held together, cast on 24 sts, and divide evenly onto 3 needles. Join, being careful not to twist. Place marker for beg of rnd. Work in St st (k every rnd) until piece measures 5 in. (12.5 cm) from beg.
