Lion Brand® Homespun®
GAUGE: 9 hdc = about 4 in. (10 cm) in pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

SHAWL
Ch 4. Being careful not to twist, join with slip stitch in beg ch to form a ring.
Row 1: Ch 3 (counts as hdc, ch 1), (3 hdc, ch 1, hdc) in ring - 5 hdc.
Row 2: Ch 3, turn, skip next ch-1 sp, 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc, ch 1, hdc in top of turning ch - 7 hdc.
Row 3: Ch 3, turn, 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in each hdc across to last hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc, ch 1, hdc in top of turning ch.
Repeat Row 3 until piece measures about 39 in. (99 cm) from beg. Fasten off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends.

| I loved making this shawl, and I love the shawl! I used the Edwardian color, which turned out pretty, and I added a large black and gray button at about waistline level as an option to keep the shawl closed. I decided not to add fringe or any extra border because it really doesn't need either! It is quite warm and snuggly. I have been crocheting off and on for over 30 yrs but this was my first experience with Homespun--I love it! Thanks LB! Wanda
