GAUGE:
13 dc + 8 rows = 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION:
Bobble Yo, insert hook in next st and draw up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook (2 loops rem on hook); (yo, insert hook in same st and draw up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice (4 loops rem on hook), yo and draw through all loops on hook.
PURSE
FRONT Ch 4; join with sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: (Ch 3, Bobble in ring) 4 times; join with sl st in top of beg ch – 4 Bobbles and 4 ch-3 sps.
Rnd 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc here and throughout), 4 dc in next ch-3 sp, dc in next Bobble, (5 dc in next ch-3 sp, dc in next Bobble) 3 times; join with sl st in top of beg ch – 24 dc.
Rnd 3: Ch 3, (2 dc in next st, dc in next st) 11 times, 2 dc in last st; join with sl st in top of beg ch – 36 dc.
Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in next st, (2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts) 11 times, 2 dc in last st; join with sl st in top of beg ch – 48 dc.
Rnd 5: Ch 3, dc in next 2 sts, (2 dc in next st, dc in next 3 sts) 11 times, 2 dc in last st; join with sl st in top of beg ch – 60 dc.
Rnd 6: Ch 3, dc in next 3 sts, (2 dc in next st, dc in next 4 sts) 11 times, 2 dc in last st; join with sl st in top of beg ch – 72 dc. Fasten off.
BACK Work same as Front.
HANDLES (make 2) Ch 33.
Row 1: Hdc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc in each ch across to last ch, sl st in last ch.
Fasten off.
FINISHING With wrong sides of Front and Back together and working through both thicknesses, join yarn with sc in any st, sc around, leaving a 4–5 in. (10-12.5 cm) opening. Sew ends of one Handle to edges of opening on Back. Sew other Handle in same manner to Front. Weave in ends.
