GAUGE: 1 Motif = about 5 x 5 in. (12.5 x 12.5 cm) with 2 strands of A held tog. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES: Motifs are worked with 2 strands of yarn held tog. Wind A, B, C, D, and E into 2 balls before beginning.
Work Rnd 1 of each Motif with A. Work Rnds 2 and 3 with the specified contrasting color.

SCARF
Motif (make 16 Motifs - 4 each with B, C, D or E as contrast color)
With 2 strands of A held tog, ch 4; join with sl st in first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), work 9 dc in ring; join with sl st in top of beg ch. Fasten off A.
Rnd 2: Join 2 strands of contrast color held tog with sl st in any dc, ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1), *dc in next dc, ch 1; rep from * around; join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch - 10 ch-1 sp.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in same st as join, (2 hdc, dc, 2 hdc) in next ch-1 sp, *sc in next dc, (2 hdc, dc, 2 hdc) in next ch-1 sp; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.
FINISHING
Sew Motifs together in the following contrast color sequence: (B, C, D, E, B, C, E, D) twice. Weave in ends.
