Hula Hand Puppet

Exact gauge is not essential to this project.
PUPPET With A, cast on 24 stitches.
Row 1: Knit.
Rep last row until piece measures about 8 in. (20 cm) from beginning.
Bind off.
Skirt Cut a 14 in. (35.5 cm) strand of B for waistband.
Fringe Cut a 12 in. (30.5 cm) long strand each of B and C. Fold strands in half. Lay fold over waistband to form a loop. Pull ends of fringe through this loop and tighten. Make about 22 fringes along waistband. Trim fringe ends evenly.
FINISHING Fold Puppet in half, seam long side and one end.
Cut 5 strands of D, each about 12 in. (30.5 cm) long. Knot strands together at center. Thread ends through Puppet and knot on inside. Trim ends.
Knot strands of B and C close to flowers.
With black yarn, embroider straight st eyes. With D, embroider a straight st mouth.
Slip Skirt onto Puppet and tack in place.
Weave in ends.
