STITCH EXPLANATION:

sc2tog (sc decrease) Insert hook into st and draw up a loop. Insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through all 3 loops on hook.

NOTES:

Work in continuous rnds; do not join or turn unless otherwise instructed.

SANTA
BODY

With A, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 3 sc in first ch. Place marker in first st for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed.
Rnd 2: Sc in each st around – 3 sts.
Rnd 3: Work 2 sc in each st around – 6 sts.
Rnd 4: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 5: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around – 9 sts.
Rnd 6: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 7: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * around – 12 sts.
Rnd 8: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 9: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 3 sts, rep from * around – 15 sts.
Rnd 10: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 11: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 4 sts, rep from * around – 18 sts.
Rnd 12: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 13: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 5 sts, rep from * around – 21 sts.
Rnd 14: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 15: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 6 sts, rep from * around – 24 sts.

FACE
With B, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in first ch.
Rnd 2: Sc in each of first 2 sts, 2 hdc in each of next 2 sts, sc in each of last 2 sts. Fasten off.

BEARD
With B, ch 6.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next st, slip st in next ch, hdc in next ch, sc in last ch.
Fasten off.

POMPOM
With B, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 8 sc in first ch.
Rnd 2: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 3: Sc2tog around. Fasten off.

ARMS (make 2)
With B, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 5 sc in first ch. Change to A.
Rnds 2-4: With A, sc in each st around. Fasten off.

LEGS (make 2)
With C, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in first ch.
Rnds 2 and 3: Sc in each st around. Fasten off.

FINISHING
Embroider Face With black yarn, straight st eyes, with pink yarn work a straight st nose. Sew Beard below nose, then sew Face to Body. Stuff Body and sew closed. Sew on Arms and Legs (Note: Arms and Legs are left unstuffed). With B, and leaving a long tail, sew on Pompom. Weave tail back into Pompom for hanging loop. Weave in ends.

I'm in love! He was so easy to make, I want to make a little santa army.


I changed it a bit by making the face using pink wool, and instead of finishing off the beard I single crocheted around the top half of the face to create hair and then sewed the last little bit of the beard that werent attached :)

I also used little plastic eyes instead which work just as well in case anyone else was thinking to do so, I did it as i struggle to make neat little eyes using thread
