GAUGE:

18 sts + 27 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) over Tuck St. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

3/1 RPC (3 over 1 right purl cross) Slip 1 st to cable needle and hold in back, p3, then k1 from cable needle.
3/1 LPC (3 over 1 left purl cross) Slip 3 sts to cable needle and hold in front, k1, p3 from cable needle.
PATTERN STITCH
Tuck Stitch (multiple of 9 sts + 2)
Row 1 (WS): P1, knit to last st, sl 1 st as if to purl.
Row 2 (RS): K1, purl to last st, sl 1 st as if to knit.
Row 3: Rep Row 1.
Row 4 (RS): K1, *k5, 3/1 RPC, rep from * to last st, sl 1 st as if to knit.
Row 5: P1, *p1, k3, p5; rep from * to last st, sl 1 st as if to purl.
Row 6: K1, *k4, 3/1 RPC, k1; rep from * to last st, sl 1 st as if to knit.
Rows 7-9: Rep Rows 1-3.
Row 10: K1, *3/1 LPC, k5; rep from * to last st, sl 1 st as if to knit.
Row 11: P1, *p5, k3, p1; rep from * to last st, sl 1 as if to purl.
Row 12: K1, *k1, 3/1 LPC, k4; rep from * to last st, sl 1 st as if to knit.
Rep Rows 1-12 for Tuck St.

NOTES:

Scarf is knit on circular needle to accommodate large number of sts, work back and forth on circular needle as if working on straight needles.

SCARF
Cast on 245 sts.
Rows 1-36: Work Rows 1-12 of Tuck St.
Rows 37-45: Work Rows 1-9 of Tuck St.
Bind off.

FINISHING
Weave in ends.

I was a little less than half finished this scarf and stopped the project. It did not look anything like the picture. It was also a bit awkward having to keep going back and forth with the cable needle. It's possible I made an error along the way but with 245 stitches per row, I wasn't going to give it another try. I have dismissed this pattern and will make a scarf using the Meandering Rib Scarf pattern. This is the first time I have had this experience with a Lion Brand pattern and I've been using their patterns for several years.
