Felted Woven Colors Scarf
Lion Brand® Lion® Wool
GAUGE: 16 sts + 22 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS) before felting. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

SCARF
Warp A
With A, cast on 10 sts. Work in St st (k on RS, p on WS) until piece measures about 80 in. (203 cm) from beg.
Bind off.
Warp B
With B, cast on 7 sts. Work as for Warp A.
Warp C
With C, cast on 9 sts. Work as for Warp A.
Warp D
With D, cast on 12 sts. Work as for Warp A.
Warp E
With E, cast on 6 sts. Work as for Warp A.
Weft
With F, cast on 50 sts. Work in St st until piece measures about 60 in. (152.5 cm). Bind off.
FINISHING
Felting
Weave in ends.
Wash pieces by machine on a hot wash/cold rinse cycle with detergent and several pieces of clothing to agitate. To felt additionally, dry by machine on a regular setting until almost dry. Remove from dryer and pull into shape.
Allow to dry completely.
Weaving Preparation
Lay Weft onto a flat surface. Beg on left hand side, cut a straight horizontal line across Weft, 2 in. (5 cm) above cast-on end and stopping 1 in. (2.5 cm) inside right hand edge. Beg on right hand side, cut a straight horizontal line across Weft, 2 in. (5 cm) above last cut and ending 1 in. (2.5 cm) from left hand edge. Alternating sides, continue to cut across Weft every 2 in. (5 cm) to about 2 in. (5 cm) from bound-off end.
Weaving
Weave Warp A over and under slits of Weft. Repeat with remaining Warp strips, alternating over and under directions. Allow about 10 in. (25.5 cm) of Warp strips to extend on each end of Weft.
With sewing needle and thread, sew Warps to Weft in a few places to secure. |
