Handsome Hoodie

Lion Brand® Homespun®

14 sts + 20 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS). When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

Hoodie is worked back and forth in rows on circular needle, as if working on straight needles.

Beg at cuff, cast on 26 (28, 30, 32) sts.
Work back and forth in rows on circular needle in St st (k on RS, p on WS) until piece measures about 5 1/2 (7, 8 1/2, 9) in. (14 (18, 21.5, 23) cm) from beg, end with a WS row.
Next Row (RS): Cast on 24 (26, 30, 34) sts, k to end of row – 50 (54, 60, 66) sts.
Next Row (WS): Cast on 24 (26, 30, 34) sts, p to end of row – 74 (80, 90, 100) sts.
Continue in St st for 2 1/2 (2 3/4, 2 3/4, 2 3/4) in. (6.5 (7, 7, 7) cm), end with a WS row.
Divide for Neck
Next Row: K 37 (40, 45, 50) sts (right front), join a 2nd ball of yarn and k 37 (40, 45, 50) sts. Working both sides at once with separate strands, continue in St st until about 2 1/2 (2 3/4, 3, 3 1/2) in. (6.5 (7, 7.5, 9) cm), above neck divide, end with a WS row.
Next Row: Bind off 37 (40, 45, 50) sts (right front), k remaining 37 (40, 45, 50) sts (back).
Next Row: P 37 (40, 45, 50) sts of back, with a 2nd ball of yarn, cast on 37 (40, 45, 50) sts for left front. Working both sides at once with separate strands, work in St st until piece measures about 2 1/2 (2 3/4, 3, 3 1/2) in. (6.5 (7, 7.5, 9) cm) above cast on row, end with a WS row.
Join Left Front and Back
Next Row (RS): Knit across sts of back and left front with a single strand to join – 74 (80, 90, 100) sts.
Work even in St st until about 2 1/2 (2 3/4, 3, 3 1/2) in. (6.5 (7, 7.5, 9) cm) above joining, end with a WS row.
Left Sleeve
Next Row: Bind off 24 (26, 30, 34) sts, k to end – 50 (54, 60, 66) sts.
Next Row: Bind off 24 (26, 30, 34) sts, p to end – 26 (28, 30, 32) sts.
Work in St st until about 5 1/2 (7, 8 1/2, 9) in. (14 (18, 21.5, 23) cm), above bound off rows.
Bind off.

Cast on 26 (30, 35, 39) sts. Work in St st until piece measures 12 1/2 (13 1/2, 14 1/2, 15 1/2) in. (32 (34, 37, 39) cm).
Bind off.

Fold Hood in half, bringing first row to meet last (face edge of Hood). Seam edges along one side for top of Hood. Sew opposite side of Hood to neck of Hoodie. Sew side and sleeve seams.
With circular needle and with RS facing, beg at bottom corner of right front, pick up and k 37 (40, 45, 50) sts evenly spaced along right front, 52 (60, 70, 78) sts evenly around edge of Hood and 37 (40, 45, 50) sts evenly along left front – 126 (140, 160, 178) sts.
Buttonhole Row: P 32 (35, 40, 45), k 2 sts together, yarn over, k to end.
Next Row: Knit.
Bind off.
Sew button opposite buttonhole. Weave in ends.

Cute Girl Hoodie Reviewed by Dawn Nuvayestewa on 2011-12-21 *****
I made this cute little hoodie in Baroque and it came out so adorable! This was an easy pattern and I can't wait to make another.
My button was odd shaped as you can see so it took a little time to work it through the button hole but no other problems than this. Enjoy making this for any little one, I did.
