GAUGE:

18 sts + 24 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Stockinette st (knit on right side, purl on wrong side). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Airy Waves Shawl Reviewed by Coutu Nancy on 2009-07-13 ***
I am not done yet so I might rate this higher after I have finished. I have completed three of the sections (about 1/4 of the way through). I believe I will need to purchase at least double the amount of yarn called for--if I were to start over, I'd use bigger than a size 7 needle also. Am curious to see if anyone else has experienced what I have with this pattern.
