GAUGE: 17 sts + 25 rows = 4 in. [10 cm] in St st (k on RS, p on WS). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

BACK
Cast on 42 (44, 46, 48) sts. Work in St st (k on RS, p on WS) until piece measures 10 (10 1/2, 11, 11 1/2) in. [25.5 (26.5, 28, 29) cm] from beg. Bind off. |  |

Cast on 41 (43, 45, 47) sts. Work in St st until piece measures 4 1/2 (5, 5 1/2, 6) in. [11.5 (12.5, 14, 15) cm] from beg, end with a WS row.
Neck Shaping
Next Row (RS): K across row to last 4 sts, k2tog, k 2 – 40 (42, 44, 46) sts.
Next Row (WS): P 2, p2tog, p across row – 39 (41, 43, 45) sts.
Rep last 2 rows until 14 (15, 15, 15) sts remain. Work even until piece measures 10 (10 1/2, 11, 11 1/2) in. [25.5 (26.5, 28, 29) cm] from beg. Bind off.
RIGHT FRONT
Cast on 41 (43, 45, 47) sts. Work in St st until piece measures 4 1/2 (5, 5 1/2, 6) in. [11.5 (12.5, 14, 15) cm] from beg, end with a WS row.

Cast on 26 (28, 30, 32) sts. Beg with a knit row, work in St st for 4 rows.
Next Row (RS): K 1, knit in front and back of next st (inc made) k to last 2 sts, knit in front and back of next st, k 1 – 28 (30, 32, 34) sts. Work 3 rows even in St st. Rep last 4 rows 5 (5, 5, 6) times – 38 (40, 42, 46) sts. Work even until Sleeve measures 5 (5 1/4, 5 1/2, 6) in. [12.5 (13.5, 14, 15) cm] from beg. Bind off. |  |
RIGHT TIE
Cast on 53 sts. Bind off.
LEFT TIE
Cast on 93 (97, 101, 106) sts. Bind off.
FINISHING
Sew Ties to Fronts at beg of neck shaping. Sew shoulder seams. Sew Sleeves to body. Sew Sleeve seams. Sew side seams leaving 1/2 in. [1.5 cm] unsewn on right side seam 4 1/2 (5, 5 1/2, 6) in. [11.5 (12.5, 14, 15) cm] up from lower edge for Tie opening. Weave in ends. |

| This is my second time making this pattern. The first time I used a yarn that I had in my basket and the kimono came out a bit stiff. This time I made it for a friend's baby shower, and I used a Silk Bamboo yarn in Apricot, and it came out beautifully. It has a lovely floppy, soft feel and a beautiful sheen to it. The only change that I made to the pattern was that for the ties I knitted i-chords instead of following the instructions to knit and cast off. I also knitted a hat to go with it. I'm a beginner knitter, and I love this pattern!
