GAUGE:

18 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter st (knit every row). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Note: Carry color not in use along edge of work on wrong side.
With A, cast on 80 sts.
Rows 1-6: With A, knit.
Rows 7-12: With B, knit.
Rows 13-18: With A, knit.
Rows 19-22: With B, knit.
Rows 23-28: With A, knit.
Rows 29-30: With B, knit.
Row 31: With B, *k8, k2tog, rep from * across – 72 sts.
Row 32: With B, knit.
Row 33: With A, *k7, k2tog, rep from * across – 64 sts.
Row 34: With A, knit.
Row 35: With A, *k6, k2tog, rep from * across – 56 sts.
Row 36: With A, knit.
Row 37: With A, *k5, k2tog, rep from * across – 48 sts.

easy to make, great for school or favorite teams. garter stitch stretches but wool shrinks, consider using a different type of yarn. may take many tries, ii am partial to acrillic. not the nicest, but becomes soft and comfortable after washing.
