Lion Brand® LB Collection® Silk Mohair
GAUGE: 13 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in Lace Pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: sk2p Slip 1 as if to knit, k2tog, pass slipped stitch over – 2 sts decreased.
ssk (slip, slip, knit) Slip next 2 sts as if to knit, one at a time to right needle, insert left needle into fronts of these 2 sts and knit them together – 1 st decreased. |
NOTES: PATTERN STITCH

Row 2: Ssk, *yo, k2, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, sk2p, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k2, yo, sk2p; rep from *, end last rep with k2tog instead of sk2p.
Row 4: Ssk, *k3, yo, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, ssk, yo, k3, sk2p; rep from *, end last rep with k2tog instead of sk2p.
Row 6: Ssk, *(k2, yo) twice, k2tog, k1, ssk, (yo, k2) twice, sk2p; rep from *, end last rep with k2tog instead of sk2p.
Row 8: Ssk, *k1, yo, k3, yo, k2tog, k1, ssk, yo, k3, yo, k1, sk2p; rep from *, end last rep with k2tog, instead of sk2p.
Rep Rows 1-8 for Lace Pattern.
IMPORTANT NOTE
When working RS rows, the FINAL repeat of the Lace Pattern St ends with a single decrease of k2tog (worked over 2 sts) instead of a double decrease of sk2p (worked over 3 sts).

| Good pattern if you've knit some lace before, or if you're up for adventure. Reviewed by Liza McCalla on 2010-01-12 |

As long as you follow the instructions, your knitting will turn out fine. I found no mistakes in this pattern at all, but you have to knit at least into the second repeat of the lace (up to row 16) to see the lace pattern emerge. Before that, I agree, it'll look like your eyelets are all over the place.
Mohair is notoriously difficult to pull out, so if you're a fairly new knitter or not used to knitting lace, knit a swatch first. Cast on 33 stitches for two repeats of the lace, and knit through all 8 rows at least twice so you can see how the lace works. It'll be easier to see what you're doing and easier to pull out mistakes.
This pattern may be a bit optimistically rated as easy+, mostly because it recommends mohair and because the lace repeat is over 16 stitches and thus hard to memorize. A previous reviewer mentioned that the yarn is "like thread". Well it is laceweight, and the idea is that it will be thin.
If you have a bunch of this yarn left you no longer want, post it on www.ravelry.com in the sell/trade section. It's fantastic quality and somebody (maybe me!) will take it off your hands.
