WITCH
Beg at lower edge of dress, with A, ch 30, join with sl st to form a ring.
Ch 1, sc in each ch around, join with sl st to beg ch.
Next Rnd: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st in beg st.
Rep last rnd once.
Next Rnd: Ch 1, * sc in each of next 4 sts, sc2tog, rep from * around – 25 sts.
Next Rnd: Ch 1, sc in 19 sts, leave the remaining 6 sts unworked, (this will be the opening for inserting two fingers for the Witch’s legs.), ch 6, join with sl st to beg st.
Next Rnd: Ch 1, sc in each st and ch around, join with sl st in beg st.
Next Rnd: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st in beg st.
Rep last rnd twice.
Next Rnd: Ch 1, * sc in each of next 3 sts, sc2tog, rep from * around, join with sl st to beg st – 20 sts.
Next Rnd: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st in beg st.
Next Rnd: Ch 1, (sc2tog) around, join with sl st to beg ch – 10 sts.
Next Rnd: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st in beg st.
Change to B.
Next Rnd: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st to beg ch.
Next Rnd: Ch 1, work 2 sc in each st around, join with sl st to beg st.
Next Rnd: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st in beg st.
Rep last rnd once.
Next Rnd: Ch 1, * sc2tog, rep from * around, join with sl st to beg st – 10 sts.
Stuff head very lightly.
Next Rnd: Ch 1, * sc2tog, rep from * around, join with sl st to beg st – 5 sts.
Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Weave tail through sts, gather together, fasten off.
ARMS (make 2)
With B, ch 2.
Work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook.
Change to A.
Next Rnd: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st in beg ch.
Rep last rnd 4 more times. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Stuff Arm lightly, with tail, sew to Witch.
HAT
With A, ch 15, sc in 2nd st from hook and in each ch across.
Next Row: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st to last 2 sts, sc2tog.
Rep last row until 2 sts rem. Fasten off, leaving a long tail.
With tail, seam long sides of piece together for crown of Hat.
Join A with sl st anywhere along base of crown.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with st st in beg st.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, * sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, rep from * around.
Rnd 3: Rep Rnd 2.
Fasten off.
FINISHING
With A, embroider straight st eyes and mouth.
Cut 5 1/2 in. (14 cm) lengths of A and sew to top of head for hair. Glue Hat to head.
Weave in ends.
