Felted Halloween Ghost

GAUGE: EXACT GAUGE IS NOT ESSENTIAL FOR THIS PROJECT BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES: Diagrams should be enlarged to fit the felted piece. Diagrams are in two pieces, so that they may be enlarged onto 1 piece of letter-size paper each.

GHOST
With A, cast on 54 stitches. Work in Stockinette stitch (knit on right side, p on wrong side) for 20 in. (51 cms). Bind off.
With B cast on 24 stitches. Work in Stockinette stitch for 6 in. (15 cm). Bind off.
FELTING
Wash by machine on a hot wash/cold rinse cycle with detergent and several pieces of clothing to agitate. Gently pull into shape and allow to dry flat. |  |
FINISHING
With disappearing marker, trace Ghost pattern onto felted A piece. Cut out on marked line, cutting away inside area of eyes and mouth. Glue B felted piece onto wrong side of Ghost, positioned to show through eye and mouth openings.
Fold wire in half and twist at fold to form a small loop. Center wire onto wrong side of felted piece, with loop extending above Ghost’s head. Shape each end of wire to follow body contour, about 1 in. (2.5 cm) from outside edge of felted piece. Whipstitch over wire to hold in place. |  |
