Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across – 15 sts.
Rows 2-13: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across.
Row 14: Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc2tog, sc in each of next 7 sts, sc2tog, sc2tog – 11 sts.
Row 15: Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc2tog, sc in each of next 3 sts, sc2tog, sc2tog – 7 sts.
Fasten off.
BACK
Make same as Front.
SIDE STRIP
With A, ch 5.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across – 4 sts.
Rows 2-37: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across.
Fasten off.
BASE
With A, ch 21.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across – 20 sts.
Rows 2-10: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across.
Fasten off.
LARGE TOMBSTONE
FRONT
With A, ch 11.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across – 10 sts.
Rows 2-14: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across.
Row 15: Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc in each of next 6 sts, sc2tog – 8 sts.
Row 16: Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc in each of next 4 sts, sc2tog – 6 sts.
Row 17: Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc in each of next 2 sts, sc2tog – 4 sts.
Fasten off.
BACK
Make same as Front.
SIDE STRIP
With A, ch 5.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across – 4 sts.
Rows 2-41: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across.
Fasten off.
BASE
With A, ch 15.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across – 14 sts.
Rows 2-9: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across.
Fasten off.
FINISHING
Sew Side Strip along side and top edges of Back and Front. Stuff firmly. Sew Base to Tombstone, allowing edges of Base to extend beyond Tombstone. With black yarn, embroider straight st letters ‘RIP’
Weave in ends.
