HAT
With circular needle and A, cast on 120 (140) sts. Join, being careful not to twist. Place marker for beg of rnd.
Rnd 1: Knit.
Rnd 2: Purl.
Change to B.
Rnd 3: Knit.
Rnds 4-11: With B, work in Seed st.
Change to A and double-pointed needles.
Rnd 12: (K2tog) around - 60 (70) sts.
Rnd 13: Purl.
Change to C.
Rnd 14: With C, knit.
Rnds 15-22: With C, work in Seed st.
Change to A.
Rnd 23: *K8, k2tog, rep from * around.
Rnd 24: With A, purl.
Rep Rnds 14-24, working 1 less st between decs, until 24 sts rem.
Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Pull tail through remaining sts, gather tightly together, fasten off.
FINISHING
Cord Trim
With B and two dpns, cast on 4 sts. K4 sts.*Do not turn work. Slide sts to other end of needle and k across. Rep from * until cord is about 60 in. (152.5 cm) long. Bind off. Sew cord around Hat, just above B ruffle, forming cord into evenly spaced loops around.
Bobbles (make 4)
Note: Bobbles are worked on 2 double-pointed needles, as if working on straight needles.
With B, and leaving a long tail, cast on 1 st.
Knit into front, then back, then front, back, and front of st to make 5 sts.
Knit 5 rows.
Next Row: Sl 1, k1, pass slip st over, k1, k2tog.
Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Pull tail through remaining sts, gather tightly together, fasten off.
Tie tails from cast on and bound off edges tog, forming a bobble.
Tie Bobbles evenly spaced around top of Hat.
Tassel
Wrap C around cardboard 15 times. Cut a length of C and thread doubled onto large-eyed blunt needle. Insert needle under all strands at upper edge of cardboard. Pull tightly and knot securely near strands. Cut yarn loops at lower edge of cardboard. Cut a length of A and wrap tightly around loops 1/2 in. (1.3 cm) below top knot to form Tassel neck. Knot securely; thread ends onto needle and weave ends to center of Tassel. Trim Tassel ends evenly. Tie Tassel to top of Hat.
Weave in ends.
