GAUGE:
15 sts + 32 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter st (k every row). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Emma Hat and Cardigan Reviewed by laurette on 2011-02-05
This was the first sweater that I knitted and found the directions to be very easy to understand although I neglected to put in the buttonholes on the correct side. By then it was too late so I decided to forget them altogether and just put a huge snap at the top and added three buttons on the outside at the top purely for decoration. I am really pleased with the results but still don't know about how true to size it is.
