SNAKE Beginning at tail, with A, chain 2.
Work 6 single crochet in 2nd chain from hook.
Without joining rounds, with A, work single crochet in each stitch around for about 2 1/2 in. (6.5 cm).
*Change to B, and continue in single crochet in each stitch for about 1 1/2 in. (3.5 cm).
Change to C, and continue in single crochet in each stitch for about 1 in. (2.5 cm).
Change to B, and work for about 1 1/2 in. (3.5 cm).
Change to A, and work for about 4 in. (10 cm).**
Repeat from * to ** once, then continue with A only for another 2 in. (5 cm).
Next Round: Work 2 single crochet in each stitch around – 12 stitches.
Repeat last round once – 24 stitches.
Work in single crochet in each stitch around for about 1 in. (2.5 cm).
Next Round: Single crochet in every other stitch around – 12 stitches.
Repeat last round twice – 3 stitches.
Cut yarn, leaving a long end. Stuff head lightly, then draw end through remaining stitches, pull together tightly and fasten off.
FINISHING Tongue
With C, chain 20. Fasten off. Draw chain through ‘mouth’ and secure with small knot under the head. Weave in ends.
Insert wire through Snake and shape as desired. Glue eyes to head.
