EXACT GAUGE IS NOT ESSENTIAL FOR THIS PROJECT
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES: To change color, work last stitch of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete stitch.

With A, ch 4, join with sl st in first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 2 (counts as 1 hdc here and throughout), 7 hdc in ring, join with sl st in top of beg ch, turn - 8 hdc.
Rnd 2: Ch 2, 5 hdc in next hdc, * hdc in next hdc, 5 hdc in next hdc; rep from * around, join with sl st in top of beg ch, turn - 24 hdc.
Rnd 3: Ch 2, hdc in each of the next 2 hdc, 3 hdc in next hdc, * hdc in each of the next 5 hdc, 3 hdc in next hdc; rep from * twice more, hdc in each of the last 2 hdc; join with sl st in top of beg ch, turn - 32 hdc.
Rnd 4: Ch 2, hdc in each of the next 3 hdc, 3 hdc in next hdc, * hdc in each of the next 7 hdc, 3 hdc in next hdc; rep from * twice more, hdc in each of the last 3 hdc; join with sl st in top of beg ch, turn - 40 hdc.
Change to B.

| I am very happy to see some new, modern dish cloth patterns! I love the colors shown, but made myself work one up on some of my Lion Cotton I have on hand first. I used Fern Green, Banana and Poppy Red to match a kitchen for a gift. The directions are great, and I only had to work in a few yarn ends when completed. Finished size is generous and luxurious for the kitchen. Give it a try!
