GAUGE:

17 sc = 4 in. (10 cm)
EXACT GAUGE IS NOT ESSENTIAL FOR THIS PROJECT
When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Circular Washcloth Reviewed by Carolyn Cooke on 2010-07-18 ****
This is excellent pattern, but if one wants to make a great, efficient model, use #10 crochet cotton and vary colors. The end results will be a slightly abrasive cloth which will dry quickly and is perfect for gifts, etc. I find that heavy cotton stains easily and dries slowly. As I live in FL, that's a problem. I've given these as gifts for years, and even sold some! Have fun!! (I have pictures, but could not transmit.)
