5 1/2 Hour Throw

Lion Brand® Homespun®

GAUGE:

3 V-sts + 4 rows = 8 in. (20.3 cm) with 4 strands of yarn held together. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

NOTES:

Throw is worked with 1 strand of each color yarn (4 strands total) held together.

Editor’s Note: When creating fringe using Homespun please note that because of the texture of the yarn the fringe will fray when cut. If you prefer a non-frayed look you can knot the ends, knit or crochet a fringe, or use hairspray or fray check.

THROW
With 1 strand each of A, B, C, and D held together, ch 47.
Row 1: Dc in 5th ch from hook, ch 1, dc in same ch (V-st made), *sk 2 ch, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch (V-st made); repeat from * to last 2 ch, sk 1 ch, dc in last ch.
Rows 2–25: Ch 3, turn, (dc, ch 1, dc) in each ch-1 space across, dc in 3rd ch of turning ch.
Fasten off.

FINISHING
Weave in ends.

Side Edging
From right side, join 1 strand of each yarn with slip stitch at one end of long side. Work 1 row of single crochet evenly spaced along (long) side edge of Throw. Repeat on opposite side edge.

Fringe
Cut 15 in. (38 cm) lengths of each color yarn. For each fringe, hold 2 strands of each color yarn (8 strands total) together and fold in half. Use crochet hook to draw fold through edge of piece, forming a loop. Pull ends of fringe through this loop and tighten. Make fringe in bottom of each V-st at bottom edge; make fringe in center of each V-st at top edge. Make fringe at corners on both ends of Throw. Trim fringe ends evenly, knotting ends to keep yarn from fraying.

Loving it.. Reviewed by Chimica on 2012-02-17 *****
I've been working on this blanket and so far I am loving the ease of this pattern. For one I didn't use the hook or the amount of yarn on the pattern. Instead I used one single strand and a K hook. I found this to make for a nice thick pattern with very little holes. I'm planning on making a few more of these but in a premature baby size because of the true ease and thickness of the results.
