Winter Lace Afghan
Lion Brand® Wool-Ease® Thick & Quick®
GAUGE: 8 sts + 13 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Lace Pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: sk2p- slip 1 st as if to knit, knit 2 sts together, pass slipped stitch over - 2 sts decreased.
ssk (slip, slip, knit)- slip next 2 sts as if to knit, one at a time to right needle, insert left needle into fronts of these 2 sts and knit them together.

| Winter Lace Afghan Reviewed by Jennifer Woods on 2009-11-06 |

I made this afghan last year for my mother. It was fast to do, but it's not something you can work on whilst watching TV in a dimly-lit room. You really do have to pay attention and know where you are, and what you've done, every step of the way. I did have my share of frustrating frogging (sometimes too heartbreakingly many), but those were errors I'd have caught much earlier if I had paid better attention.
This yarn is a joy to work with, and is one of the few wool-blend yarns I've ever used that actually looks and feels like pure, soft wool. I'm normally good at spotting acrylic (by sight and touch) but this yarn really has me fooled, and my mum is happy she can toss it into the washer to clean it (which means it will get used).
The results are stunning, and well worth the frustration. Still with all the do-overs, etc., it was a fast thing to make.
