Winter Lace Afghan

Lion Brand® Wool-Ease® Thick & Quick®

GAUGE:

8 sts + 13 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Lace Pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

sk2p- slip 1 st as if to knit, knit 2 sts together, pass slipped stitch over - 2 sts decreased.
ssk (slip, slip, knit)- slip next 2 sts as if to knit, one at a time to right needle, insert left needle into fronts of these 2 sts and knit them together.

Winter Lace Afghan Reviewed by june munger on 2012-01-13 ****
It's not an easy pattern per se, you have to pay attention. I would highly recommend doing a practice swatch first. I didn't and I ripped out and repeated the begininning several times before I got the hang of the pattern so it'd look pretty. It helps to enlarge the pattern and use a highlighter on certain steps that go together. Placing markers in between repeats is essential. I added more length with 2 extra skeins of yarn. A whole lot of effort, but it did make an impressive and beautiful wedding gift.
