Felted Ethereal Scarf

GAUGE: 14 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS)

BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

SCARF
With A, cast on 73 sts.
Work in St st (k on RS, p on WS) until piece measures about 56 in. (142 cm) from beginning. Bind off.
FINISHING
Thread about 24 in. (61 cm) of B into large-eyed blunt needle. From RS, make a random fold in Scarf, sew through both layers of Scarf for a few inches (our folds were 3-7 in. ([7.5-18 cm] long) to join. Knot B. Cut B, leaving long tails. Repeat folding and sewing across entire Scarf.
FELTING
Place scarf in a mesh laundry bag or pillowcase and wash by machine on a hot wash/cold rinse cycle with detergent and several pieces of clothing to agitate. B tails will felt, remainder of Scarf will remain unfelted.
