Rnd 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around – 18 sc. Rnd 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * around – 24 sc. Rnd 5: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 3 sts, rep from * around – 30 sc. Fasten off.
SIDE With knitting needles and A, cast on 51 sts. Row 1 (WS): * Purl 1, knit 2, rep from * around. Row 2: * Purl 2, knit 1, rep from * around. Rows 3-14: Rep Rows 1 and 2. Bind off.
FROSTING With crochet hook and 2 strands of B, ch 2. Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in first ch. Place marker in first st for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed. Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around – 12 sc. Rnd 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around – 18 sc. Rnd 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * around – 24 sc. Rnd 5: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 3 sts, rep from * around – 30 sc. Rnd 6: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 4 sts, rep from * around – 36 sc. Rnds 7-11: Sc in each st around. Fasten off.
BERRY With crochet hook and C, ch 2. Rnd 1: Work 4 sc in first ch. Place marker in first stitch for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed. Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each st around – 8 sc. Rnd 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around – 12 sc. Rnd 4-6: Sc in each st around – 12 sts. Begin adding stuffing after Rnd 4. Rnd 7: Sc2tog around – 6 sts. Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Finish stuffing, use tail to gather open end closed.
FINISHING Seam ends of Side to make a loop. Sew one long edge of Side to Base. Weave in ends. Stuff firmly. Wrap Frosting over half ball, allowing edge of Frosting to extend past ball. Sew edge of Frosting to Side. Glue Berry to top of Cupcake. Snip 1/4 in. (6 mm) lengths of white yarn and glue to Frosting to make sprinkles.
