Purely Comforting Afghan
Lion Brand® Nature's Choice Organic® Cotton
GAUGE: 12 sts + 5 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Shell pattern.
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: | Shell Dc in next dc, ch 1, (dc, ch 1, dc) between last dc and next dc, ch 1, dc in next dc. |
NOTES: COLOR SEQUENCE
*Work 3 rows with A, 3 rows with B, 3 rows with C, 3 rows with D; rep from * for Color Sequence.

I made this, using a different color selection, and it's beautiful! It took me a long time to figure out the pattern, though--one thing I did that really helped was to use a paperclip to mark the row on the pattern so I could remember where I was.
The pattern is confusing because there are 6 rows in each cycle, but within those six there are three unique rows that are repeated twice, each time beginning and ending differently. So you might think you're looking at the correct pattern row because the main part of the row is what you are doing, but you are really looking at the wrong row because the row end is different than the one you need.
Before I used the paperclip, it took me a long time to figure out which row I was on when I came to the end of the row and needed to see how to end it.
