GAUGE:
4 stitches = 4 in. (10 cm) in Stockinette stitch (knit on right side, purl on wrong side) holding 4 strands of yarn together.
Note: Due to the nature of the fabric when working with Speed Stix, gauge may vary throughout the knitting. Exact gauge is not essential to this project. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Wow! This is definitely not a project for the faint of heart. My grandmother is always cold, even in the summertime. To those naysayers: It's not a blanket. It is much narrower than it is long, and while I don't like the color used for the picture either, the scarf is gorgeous and looks warm and cuddly. Jumbo items may not be your thing, but I think they are lovely.
Now, the reason I only gave it four stars instead of five? The cost of the yarn to make something this crazy is a little painful on the checkbook. True, it's probably worth it, but unfortunately it means that I won't be able to actually start this project for a while. I have only knitted the gauge swatch so far, with the thick n quick I have in my stash.
