GAUGE:

9 sc + 8 rnds = 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Wee Backpack Reviewed by Tracy Lee on 2008-10-01 ****
Darling backpack in denim, but I agree with another reviewer regarding the need for additional rows and instructions for the straps. I think I added about 8-10 extra rows for height and created an alternate cord. I couldn't get it to thread initially but after some trial and error I managed to get it to work. Altogether a fairly quick project to complete.
