STITCH EXPLANATION:

sc2tog (sc decrease) Insert hook into st and draw up a loop. Insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through all 3 loops on hook.

NOTES:

Work in continuous rnds; do not join or turn unless otherwise instructed.

MOUSE
BODY
With A, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in first ch; place a marker to indicate beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around – 12 sc.
Rnd 3: *2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc; rep from * around – 18 sc.
Rnd 4: *2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc; rep from * around – 24 sc.
Rnd 5: *2 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc; rep from * around – 30 sc.
Rnds 6–19: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 20: *Sc2tog, sc in next 3 sc; rep from * around – 24 sc.
Following package directions, attach safety eyes.
Rnd 21: *Sc2tog, sc in next 2 sc; rep from * around – 18 sc.
Stuff piece.
Rnd 22: *Sc2tog, sc in next sc; rep from * around – 12 sc.
Rnd 23: (Sc2tog) around – 6 sc.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Weave tail through last rnd and gather tightly. Knot to secure.

OUTER EARS (make 2)
With A, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in first ch; place a marker to indicate beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around – 12 sc.
Rnd 3: *2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc; rep from * around – 18 sc.
Fasten off.

INNER EARS (make 2)
With B, repeat Rnds 1 and 2 of Outer Ear.
Fasten off.

FINISHING
Sew an Inner Ear to each Outer Ear. Sew Ears to head. With B, embroider a straight st nose. Tie a length of A to rear of Mouse for tail. Trim to desired length, knot end. Weave in ends.

This was the first amigurumi I tried since it looked fairly simple without too many parts. I was right and it ended up cute enough that my son stole it from me immediately. I used cotton yarn. I only wish I'd made a thicker tail instead of just the one strand, it seems silly hanging off the back this way.
