GAUGE:
8 stitches and 12 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Stockinette stitch (knit on right side, purl on wrong side). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES:
Cardigan is worked in one piece beginning at lower back.

This is an easy pattern to follow. I made it in about a week using two weekends and the evenings in between. I shortened the over all length just a little and lengthened the sleeves and it looks fantastic. My only problem with the pattern was that it tells you to bind off two stitches to make the button holes and then to use 1" buttons. I had to get 1.5" buttons and still, the button holes are just a little big. If I were to make this again, I'd probably just bind off one stitch for each button hole and then at the end, figure out the right size button to use. It's also a bit heavy so there is a good deal of pull on the top corner button. That and the button holes are the reasons I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. Otherwise this is a pretty, very warm sweater that I'll definitely be wearing.
