Lion Brand® Wool-Ease® Thick & Quick®

4 sts + 4 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Stockinette st (k on RS, p on WS) with 3 strands of yarn held together. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

Garter borders are worked with 2 strands of yarn held together. Change to 3 strands held together for St st sections.

With 2 strands of yarn held together, cast on 28 sts.
Rows 1-10: Work in Garter st (knit every row). Join 1 more strand (you will now be working with 3 strands) and work in St st until piece measures 23 in. (58.5 cm) from beg.
Shape Armholes
Bind off 2 sts at the beg of the next 2 rows (24 sts). Dec 1 st at beg and end of next row (22 sts). Continue in St st until piece measures 32 in. (81.5 cm) from beg. Bind off.

With 2 strands of yarn held together, cast on 15 sts.
Rows 1-10: Work in Garter st.
Join 1 more strand of yarn.
Row 11(RS): Knit.
Row 12: K3 (for Garter st border), p to end.
Repeat Rows 11 and 12 three more times.
Next Row: K3, sl next 6 sts to a stitch holder, cast on 6 sts, k across remaining 6 sts (15 sts).
Keeping 3 border sts in Garter st and keeping remaining sts in St st as established, work until piece measures 23 in. (58.5 cm) from beg, end with a WS row.
Shape Armhole
Row 1:
Bind off 2 sts, k to end - 13 sts.
Row 2: K3, p to end.
Row 3: K2tog, k to end - 12 sts.
Continue in St st, keeping 3 edge sts in Garter st, until piece measures 29 in. (73.7 cm) from beg, end with a RS row.
Shape Neck
Next Row:
K3 and sl to a holder, p2tog, p to end.
Working in St st, dec 1 st at neck edge every other row 2 more times. Work 2 more rows in St st. Bind off.

Work as for Right Front, reversing all shaping.

Rows 1-10: Work in Garter st.
Row 11: Join 1 more strand of yarn and k, inc 1 st at each end.

Weekender Jacket on 2014-09-11 *
3 skeins together makes it Much too bulky. I made it was not satisfied with it. ripped it all out. Still have the yarn & am looking for a new pattern or ways to modify this one.
