Rib Sampler Scarf

Lion Brand® Wool-Ease®

GAUGE:

16 stitches = 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter Stitch (knit every row). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

PATTERN STITCHES
K1, p1 Rib (worked over even # of sts)
Row 1: *K1, p1; rep from * to end of row.
Rep Row 1 for K1, p1 Rib.

K2, p2 Rib (worked over multiple of 4 stitches)
Row 1: *K2, p2; rep from * to end of row
Rep Row 1 for K2, p2 Rib.

Mistake Stitch Rib (worked over multiple of 4 stitches + 3)
Row 1: *K2, p2; rep from * to last 3 sts, k2, p1.
Rep Row 1 for Mistake Stitch Rib.

Farrow Rib (worked over multiple of 3 stitches + 1)
Row 1: *K2, p1; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 2: P1, *k 2, p1; rep from * to end of row. Rep Rows 1 and 2 for Farrow Rib.

SCARF
Cast on 28 sts.
Work in K2, p2 Rib for 8 in. (20.5 cm).
Work in Garter Stitch (knit every row) for 4 in. (10 cm).
Next Row (Decrease Row): K13, k2 sts together (decrease made), k to end of row - 27 sts.
Work in Mistake Stitch Rib for 8 in. (20.5 cm).
Work in Garter Stitch for 4 in. (10 cm).
Next Row (Increase Row): K13, k into front and then back loop of next st (increase made), k to end of row - 28 sts.
Work in K1, p1 Rib for 12 in. (30.5 cm).
Work in Garter Stitch for 4 in. (10 cm).
Work in Farrow Rib for 8 in. (20.5 cm).
Work in Garter Stitch for 4 in. (10 cm).
Work in K2, p2 Rib for 8 in. (20.5 cm).
Bind off.

FINISHING
Weave in ends.
