One Block = 14 in. (35.5 cm) Square. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

I used an N hook, 10mm and did 12 rows, it makes a square with the chain of 22. However, I already used 14 skeins! What did I do wrong? I count and will need about 30 squares to make a medium sized afghan. I still need to buy more yarn!
