Tonal Tweed Afghan
Lion Brand® Wool-Ease® - Wool-Ease® Chunky
GAUGE:
6 half double crochet + 5 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) with 1 strand each of A and B held together. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
COLOR SEQUENCE Rows 1 and 2: Work with 1 strand each of A and B held together. Rows 3 and 4: Work with 1 strand each of A and C held together. Rows 5 and 6: Work with 1 strand each of A and D held together. Rows 7 and 8: Work with 1 strand each of A and E held together.
Repeat these Rows 1-8 for Color Sequence.
AFGHAN
With 1 strand each of A and B held together, chain 65. Row 1: Half double crochet in 3rd chain from hook and in each chain across - 63 half double crochet. Row 2: Chain 2, turn, half double crochet in each stitch across. Fasten off B and pick up C.
Following Color Sequence, repeat Row 2 until the 8 rows of Color Sequence have been worked 8 times (for a total of 64 rows). Fasten off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends.
Tonal Tweed Afghan Reviewed by Jessica Doughty on 2010-05-06
This was a very easy pattern, but it was kind of a pain to change colors so often. Also, I wanted it to be a big afghan, so I chained 100 and used 15 skeins of wool-ease. It turned out really pretty, but I don't know if I would make it again.
