GAUGE:
4 1/2 hdc + 4 rows = 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES:
To change color, work last stitch of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with next color and draw through all loops on hook to complete stitch. Carry colors not in use along wrong side of work.
THROW
With A, ch 52. Row 1: Hdc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across - 50 hdc. Rows 2-3: Ch 2, turn, hdc in each st across. Row 4: With A, ch 2, turn, hdc in first 21 sts; change to C; hdc in last 29 sts. Row 5: With C, ch 2, turn, hdc in first 29 sts; change to A; hdc in last 21 sts. Row 6: With A, ch 2, turn, hdc in first 21 sts; change to C; hdc in last 29 sts. Rows 7 and 8: Rep Rows 5 and 6; change to A at end of Row 8.
Fasten off C. Rows 9-11: With A, ch 2, turn, hdc in each st across; change to E in last st of Row 11. Row 12: With E, ch 2, turn, hdc in first 25 sts; change to A; hdc in last 25 sts. Row 13: With A, ch 2, turn, hdc in first 25 sts; change to E; hdc in last 25 sts. Row 14: With E, ch 2, turn, hdc in first 25 sts; change to A; hdc in last 25 sts. Rows 15 and 16: Rep Rows 13 and 14.

I love this afghan! It worked up very quickly. I did adjust the pattern by making it larger.
