GAUGE:

Square 1 = 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 in. (14 x 14 cm) When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

NOTES:

To change color, work last stitch of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete stitch.

Circles To Squares Afghan Reviewed by Jacquelyn Jones on 2014-02-23 *****
this pattern is easy and fun for a beginner (this was my first crochet afghan ever!!) it came together quick and it was just fun! the picture is taken on a queen size bed, so i don't think it came out all that small. It would cover the top of a twin bed.. i added another round of DC and SC to the edging to bring back the three colors used in the pattern.. i think it turned out great! thanks lionbrand for sharing the pattern
