GAUGE:

17 sts + 25 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS).
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Garter Ridge Baby Cardigan Reviewed by bpjt on 2011-08-28 *****
Fairly new to knitting and yet I've already learned that avoiding seaming is best for me. That being said, I knit the sleeves in the round, adjusting the pattern accordingly to achieve the same look & it came out beautifully! As this was a gift for a little boy, I used a blue-tan-brown yarn which looks quite handsome.
