Prayer Shawl

Lion Brand® Vanna's Choice®

GAUGE:

14 sts + 11 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in hdc. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

SHAWL
Ch 4; join with sl st in first ch to form a ring.
Row 1: Ch 3 (counts as hdc, ch 1 here and throughout), turn, work 3 hdc in ring, ch 1, hdc in ring - 5 hdc and 2 ch-1 sp.
Row 2: Ch 3, turn, sk first ch-1 sp, 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc, ch 1, hdc in 2nd ch of turning ch - 7 hdc and 2 ch-1 sp.

Rep Row 4, increasing 1 hdc at beginning and end of each row until Shawl measures 35 in. (89 cm) from beginning. Fasten off.

Prayer Shawl Reviewed by Coleen Lane on 2012-07-11 ****
Just got done making this shawl. It was pretty easy to make. I was a little confused when it came to doing the shell edging. But finally figured that out. I used some left over 4ply yarn in two different colors. It came out real nice.
