Squiggles Baby Hat

GAUGE:
12 sc = 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES:
1) Work in back loops only throughout.
2) Carry color not in use loosely along edge of work.

I just made this for my 9 mo old son, in my husband's favorite college team colors. Instead of making a tie for the squiggles, I used a double strand of yarn and sewed through the top of the rows (from the inside). Then I drew it up tight like a drawstring, to bring the top together. It's super cute! Planning on making the matching blanket out of the leftover yarn. My son will be all ready for football games!!
