Lion Brand® Cotton-Ease®
16 sts + 28 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Seed st. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size
specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be
sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what
the designer used, but is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person.
If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller
size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Row 1: *K1, p1; rep from * across.
Row 2: P the knit sts, and k the purl sts.
Rep Row 2 for Seed st.
With A, cast on 80 sts.
Work in Seed st until piece measures 3 1/2 in. (9 cm) from beg.
Change to B and continue in Seed st until piece measures 5 in. (12.5 cm) from beg, end with a WS row. Note: End with a WS row means that the last row you work should be a WS row, and the next row that you are ready to work will be a RS row.
Row 1 (RS): *(K1, p1) 4 times, k2tog; rep from * across 72 sts at the end of this row.
Row 2 and all WS rows: P the knit sts and k the purl sts.
