Three-Season Cardigan Jacket

GAUGE:
13.25 sts + 25 rows = 4in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION:
Seed St Pattern
Row 1 *K 1, p 1; rep from * across. Row 2 K the p sts, p the k sts as they face you.
Rep Row 2 for seed st pattern.
NOTES:
Sweater is worked with 2 strands of yarn held tog throughout.
SWEATER
BACK With smaller needles and 2 strands of yarn held tog, cast on 69 sts. Work in
k 1, p 1 rib for 2½in. inc 9 sts evenly spaced across last row – 78 sts.
Change to larger needles and seed st pattern. Work even until piece measures
16in. from beg. Place a marker on each edge of last row for armholes. Continue
even in seed st until piece measures 26in. from beg. Bind off all sts.
POCKET LININGS – Make 2
With larger needles and 2 strands of yarn held tog, cast on 21 sts. Work in
seed st pattern until piece measures 4½in. from beg. Slip sts to a holder.
RIGHT FRONT
With smaller needles and 2 strands of yarn held tog, cast on 36 sts. Work in
k 1, p 1 rib for 2½in., inc 4 sts evenly spaced across last row – 40 sts.
Change to larger needles and seed st pat. Work even until piece measures 7in.
from beg, ending with a WS row. Mark beg of next row (RS) for center front.
Pocket
Opening
Next Row (RS) Working in seed st, work first 11 sts, slip next 19 sts onto a
holder for pocket opening; pick up 21 pocket lining sts slipping first st and
last st onto safety pins to be worked into pocket seam later and work across rem
19 sts of pocket lining; then work across last 10 sts of Right Front – 40 sts.
Continue even in seed st until piece measures 16in. from beg. Mark end of RS row
for armhole. Continue even in seed st until piece measures 23in. from beg,
ending with a WS row. Shape Neck Working in seed st, bind off 5 sts at beg of next row, then
dec 1 st at neck edge every other row 10 times – 25 sts. Continue even in seed
st until 26in. from beg. Bind off 25 sts.
LEFT FRONT
Work to correspond to Right Front, reversing shaping and placement of
pocket.
SLEEVES
With smaller needles and 2 strands of yarn held tog, cast on 35 sts. Work in
k 1, p 1 rib for 2½in., inc 9 sts evenly spaced across last row – 44 sts.
Change to larger needles. Work in seed st pattern, inc 1 st each side every 8th
row 12 times working added sts into seed st – 68 sts. Continue even in seed st
until piece measures 19½in. from beg. Bind off all sts.
BUTTON BAND
With RS facing, using smaller needles and 2 strands of yarn held tog, pick
up 87 sts evenly across Left Front center edge. Work in k 1, p 1 rib for 1½ in. Bind off in rib.
BUTTONHOLE BAND
With RS facing, using smaller needles and 2 strands of yarn held tog, pick
up 87 sts evenly across Right Front center edge. Work in k 1, p 1 rib for
3/4in..
Next Row
Rib 2 sts, *bind off 2 sts, rib 14 sts; rep from * to * 4 times,
bind off 2 sts, rib to end. Next Row Rib, casting on 2 sts over each set of bound-off sts. Continue
in rib until band measures 1½in.. Bind off in rib.
POCKET EDGING
With RS facing, using smaller needles and 2 strands of yarn held tog, pick
up 19 sts from pocket holder plus 1 st on each end from safety pins -- 21 sts.
Work in k 1, p 1 rib for 1½ in.. Bind off in rib.
FINISHING
Sew shoulder seams.
Collar
With RS facing, using smaller needles and 2 strands of yarn held tog, pick
up 75 sts evenly along neck edge (do not pick up sts along top of front bands).
Work in k 1, p 1 rib for 1in.. Next Row Rib 6 sts, double inc (work in front, back and front) in next st,
*rib 7 sts, double inc in next st; rep from * 8 times, rib to end – 93 sts.
Continue in rib until Collar measures 3in.. Bind off in rib. Sew in Sleeves
between armhole markers. Sew side and Sleeve seams.
Edging
With RS facing, using crochet hook and 2 strands of yarn held tog, work 1
row of slip stitch around inside of Collar where sts were picked up. Sew pocket
linings in place. Sew on buttons.

Easy to knit - works up fast, but this is very large. Could probably fit two of me in it!
Instructions are clear, but I had to take it apart - just too large.
