GAUGE:

16 sts + 21 rows = 4 in. [10 cm] in Cable Pattern.
11 sts + 19 rows = 4 in. [10 cm] in Seed stitch. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Reviewed by Rebecca Lussier on 2013-06-15 ****
I've made two of these bags now and really enjoyed the pattern. I thought the strap was too thick so when I sewed in a fabric lining I attached belt material as a star and then folded the knit strap in half and stitched it around the belt material. This helped to not allow the knit material the stretch. Not sure if I can post pictures from my phone but if not ill try to upload some later. Very cute bag, definitely want a fabric lining and strap to keep from loosing its shape.
