GAUGE:
18 sts + 20 rows = 4 in. [10 cm] in Pattern st. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

This was a fast and easy scarf. The pattern was not hard to follow, and I even memorized it pretty quick. However, the suggested 12 stripes was definitely not long enough, especially for a tall person. I like my scarves to come below my waist. I made 19 stripes (not counting the border), but still with just the yarn required. I also liked this scarf, cause someone else looking at it, would never know if you made a mistake :).
