GAUGE:
6½ hdc = 4 in. (10 cm); 5 rows = 3 in. (7.5 cm) in hdc with crochet hook.
7 sts + 10½ rows = 3 in. (7.5 cm) in Stockinette st (k on RS, p on WS) with knitting needles. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Retro Swing worth the effort Reviewed by angela on 2010-01-17
I see this jacket as a template in many ways that can be used in a variety of ways. I exaggerated the collar and added a lace trim to elongate it. It is really cute and I love the swingy look, I may make it again in black, I do not like the stitch decrease method of skipping over the second stitch, No, it leaves a gap, better to stitch two together as one, or some other way, thats my only grief with it. Add a shawl pin for extra cute touch
